A. Heb.10:38 -The person who has God’s approval will live by faith. But if he turns back, I will not be pleased with him.”- GOD’S WORD TRANSLATION

This scripture emphasize the implication of drawing back, shrinking, side stepping, from faith i.e doubt. It emphases that:

· God derives pleasure as we walk with Him by faith.

· God’s word Translation says God gives approval to the man of faith.

· When we walk in doubt, we displease God!

According to Josephus and Philo (Jewish Historians) the concept of the phrase “Draw back has to do with:

Backsliding or falling away from an already attained level or degenerate or retrogress generally because of:

– Fear

– Perceived or expected secular loss or anticipated disadvantage.

TO LIVE BY FAITH IMPLIES:

· Continued confidence in God no matter the circumstance i.e A Calm trust in God.

· Refusal to entertain doubt, fear apprehension or trembling.

· No dependence on merits, works or strength.

Anything short of this will displease God. It will be considered as a desertion.

Please note the following:

– Without faith, it is impossible to Please God – Heb.11:6a

– Without faith, it is impossible to Know God – Heb.11:6b
