The Ways of Jesus (I)

Text: Psm.95:9-11

INTRODUCTION

In Job 9:10 and Rom.11:33, the bible there declare that the ways of God are past finding out; i.e fully grasp or understand or explain it, however.
Rom.1:19-22 –Tells us that thru the visible creations of God we can catch a glimpse or get some idea of who He is or what His wisdom is like.
I Cor. 1:9-12 – Further declare that by His Spirit in us, we can also peep through a window into the workings of His mind and ways.

We are looking at the ways of Jesus, this month so that:

(a) We can become more like Him

1 John 4:17 – Statement of fact , by redemption but it has to be worked out –Phil.2:12-13, I John 3:2
it is a process to mature in Christ – Mk.3:13-14; Rom.12:1-2

(b) To avoid us getting too familiar with God as was the case in –Ps. 95:9-11 resulting in them:

Incurring the anger of God severally
Not keeping their hearts in check because: Jer. 17:9-10

See Psm.95 vs 10… Err in their heart …KJV
Hearts go astray … NIV
Go astray in their hearts- NKJV
Disloyal hearts – GN

Pls note:
Knowing the ways God is a heart matter!
Ampl. Bible gives the characteristics of “erred hearts” i.e

Not Approving
Not Acknowledging
No Regard for the ways of God.
Approving: Think well of, like, look on with Favour admire hold in high esteem, commend applaud praise and acclaim –Psm.119:160-162
Acknowledging i.e.
Recognize and confess Him as being who He has declared He is. e.g David in Psm.103:1-14
Approach with gratitude as an obligation and worthiness. Psm.100:4
Affirming His ways as being right. The God is never wrong mentality Psm.119:128 e.g.
Job in Job 34:31,
John the Baptist Math.11:2-6; 14:3-11,
Judas –John 12:3-7, Lu.22:3, Acts 1:20

Regard

1. To hold as being important and deserving of attention.
2. To take Him into account in determining action, consideration or motive because you take the things of God as being primary and any other thing secondary to God and His interest.

To respect – Lk.5:5
Keep at a constant focus – i.e. keep an eye on as in –Gen.18:8, Hab.2:1,

Cherish ————-

——— Psm.37: 3-7

Delight ————-
(c) So that we can enter into His rest i.e, entering into God’s plan for you i.e your prophetic destiny – Psm.95:11 (Ampl, LB and GN.

The major issue here is that they doubted God because they did not know Him inspite of the things they’ve seen Him do:-
Deut. 11:7; Psm.103:7
Isa.41:22-23; 46:10
Dan.3:16-18 – 3Hebrew children
Daniel being accused – Dan.6:5
My entrance into the Bank
Prov. 23:18; Heb.10:35-37

(d) So that we can be responsible children of God.

To labour -Phil.2:12-13, 1Cor.15:9-10
In standing after doing all – Gen.12:1-4, Rom.4:17-21; Heb.11:8-10. – Abraham obeyed and brought forth a nation.
In upholding Righteousness – Gen.39:7-10. – Joseph in Portiphar’s House
In respect for the anointing and authority I Sam. 24:3-7; 26:5-13- David – Fought according to the rules and got the throne.

– Compare him with Jeroboam – I kings 12:25-30.
