A. 5 THINGS ABOUT THE EXRA MILE …CONT’D
It is a journey of conviction and it is lonely

e.g The Lord Jesus – Matt.26:39,56

Paul the Apostle -1Cor.9:16-17; 11Cor.12:15, Acts 26:16-19
On the Second Mile, focus on the person a head of you.

Jesus is the person ahead of you. Matt.16:24; Heb.12:2
You avoid distractions by this – Heb.12:3-4
You can handle the pain by this –Matt.26:67-68
You can pursue the objective better – Heb.11:24-27

B. GOING THE EXTRA MILE
-3 Things make it possible to go the extra mile-Viz:
Desperation
Knowledge
A loving and an obedient Heart
Desperation –Jer.29:11-14, 11Chro.15:2; Isa.55:6

Definitions abounds, but let’s just look at some.
a. Coming to the end of yourself i.e you’ve tried all you know to do and the result is not as expected. e.g Rachael – Gen.30:1,3; Hannah – Isam.1:2, 6,9-end.

Pls note same situation but different reaction because of the heart condition. See Gen.31:30-35

A state in which one is ready to do anything without regard to possible danger(s)

e.g. Jonathan –ISam.14:1,4-23 (NLT)
Esther – Esther 4:16

The last resort when all else have failed Elijah/Elisha –Desperate pursuit, the proof of desire – IIKings 2:1-15

Widow of the Prophet – Desperation to keep her sons – IIkings 4:1-7
The Father with a dumb son – Mk.9:14-27

Needing or wanting something so much that Cost becomes irrelevant
e.g God – Fellowship and redemption of man –Gen.3:15
Jairus – the daughter’s death -Mk.5:21-24,35-42
The woman with the issue of blood – Mk.5:25-34
Zacheaus -Lu.19:1-7
The four lepers -II kings 7
