TEXT: Eph.2:10 (NIV), Matt.25:14:29

INTRODUCTION

We all have been put on earth to make a contribution. You weren’t created just to consume resources and occupy space. God designed you to make a difference with your life.

As a church, our strength is not measure by the crowd of people we have, but by the number of people that serve as workers.

WHAT IS SERVICE
To work for, minister to or to perform duties

Web dictionary – Work done by one person or group that benefits another.

You are saved to serve – 2 Tim.1:9: – that is why God left us in this world to fulfill his purpose. You have a role to play and that role is important – so stop sitting and warming the chair every Sunday and get busy for God. Serve others because you were shaped for service.

God planned for you to do good works and every time as a believer you use your gifts, talents and ability to help others that is service.

S – Spiritual gift (Once a Christian, God gives this to you)

H- Heart (What do I love to do, your passion. You have a unique heart beat. Some things turn you on)

A- Abilities (Given at the moment of birth – Natural gift are as good as spiritual.)

P- Personality (God loves varieties – some love routine, night person, day e.t.c.)

E – Experience (Family, Educational, Vocational, Spiritual Ministry – Painful – problem, hurts, thorns, trials you have learnt from.
God never waste a hurt. The very experience you hate the most is the very thing God wants to use to make your greatest ministry. People don’t grow from our strength but from our weakness – If God can use you he can use me.

So no one should behave as the servant in the parable of talent who was given one talent.

* They were all given according to their ability. The talent represents our abilities, our possessions, and our opportunities to serve the lord.
No matter how small you are, you are needed in the body e.g. Peter and Andrew – Billy Graham was won by Mordecai Haman, came through Billy Sunday, who came through Wilbur Chapman who was won by D.L Moody who came through his Sunday school teacher at age 17 Edward Kimball a business man.

Reward

The bible teachers that reward in heaven will be handed out justly, but not equally. Our degree of faithfulness determines our heavenly reward. 1Cor. 3:8- We will be rewarded for the labour we give after conversion.
1. Service will bring promotion Matt.25:21. Joseph, his faithfulness brought elevation to prime minister.
