NEW BEGINNING (II)

TEXT: Ruth 1:1-2, 6, 14-16

INTRODUCTION

God can never be taken by surprise in any circumstance. He is God of Yesterday, Today and Forever and He has the time and seasons of men in His hands and He often gives support to His children to begin again where necessary or required.

In Genesis 1 – He started the Earth all over again
In “ 3,6&9 – He gave man chance for a new beginning
In Isa.42:9 – He declared new things
In Lam.3:33 – He gives new mercies Everyday
In Mic.7:8 – He gives new hope for rising
In John31:12-13,3:3-4 – He gave opportunity for the new birth
In Rev.21:5 – He declared, Behold I make all things new!

A. SOME OBERVATIONS FROM OUR TEXT ON NEW BEGINNINGS

i. It could be God originated – Gen.12:1-4; 1Sam.16:1
ii. It could be human in origin, propelled by:
* Either a need- 2Kings 6:1-2
* or circumstance-Ruth 1:1
* or vision –Lu 15:17-20
* It can also be a combination of one or two of the above –2king7:1-7
iii. It has its challenges viz- uncertainties, pains, tears, joy, suffering v14; Heb.12:1-2
iv. It is often a step at a time – v19-22, Psm.23:4
v. It is a journey of faith – Heb.11:8-10
vi. It could require from you strong determination –vs17-19a
vii. It could have in it the key for the future -v12-13,4:13-16

WHY A NEW BEGINNING
i. To repair or give a new foundation. Psm 11:3, Isa.58:12
ii. When things are out of course –Gen 6:1-5; Psm.82:5
iii. To Erase the past completely particular the hurts and pains Gen 6:6-8
iv. To Give a new opportunity
– The prodigal son
– Lazarus
v. To compensate you for injustices and losses suffered. Exo.12:36;1Sam 30:17-20
vi. To create space for new visions and other things He has in mind for us.
e.g Relocation to: Canaan land Redemption camp in answer to prayers
