God’s Faithfulness – Trusting His Promises At All times

God's Faithfulness

God’s faithfulness and the integrity of His word text references: Isaiah 55:6–13; Psalm 119:89–91.

Introduction: God’s Faithfulness

The Word of God is unfailing, unchanging, and eternal. This truth remains evident in all the Scriptures, where God’s Faithfulness is proven and manifested consistently to fulfill His promises.

As believers, we are called to trust in Him, remain in His presence, and rely on the integrity of His Word.

This message explores the nature of God's promises, His faithfulness, and the role of faith in our lives.

God Watches Over His Promises To Prove His Faithfulness

Genesis 15:1–6

God’s promises are not empty words; So, He actively watches over His Word to bring it to fulfillment. In Genesis 15, the Lord appeared to Abram in a vision, saying, “Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”

Despite Abram’s concerns about being childless, God assured him of an heir from his own body. He brought Abram outside, showed him the stars, and promised, “So shall thy seed be.” Abram believed, and God counted it to him as righteousness.

This story highlights that God’s promises are not dependent on human circumstances. Even when the situation seems impossible, God’s Word prevails. As believers, we must trust Him and remain in His presence, knowing He will fulfill what He has spoken.

God’s Faithfulness And Promises Are Incorruptible

Psalm 12:6; Genesis 16:1–4

The Word of the Lord is pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times (Psalm 12:6). However, human impatience and doubt can lead to attempts to fulfill God’s promises through human effort. In Genesis 16, Sarai, Abram’s wife, suggested that Abram have a child with Hagar, her maid. Although this action seemed like a solution, it was not God’s plan.

This passage reminds us that God does not need our help to fulfill His promises.

His Word is incorruptible, and His timing is perfect. When we try to intervene, we risk complicating the process. Instead, we must trust the integrity of His Word and wait on Him.

Faith In God’s Covenant

Genesis 17:1–8, 15–19

At the age of 99, God appeared to Abram and introduced Himself as the Almighty God (Jehovah El-Shaddai). He instructed Abram to walk before Him and be blameless. Then, God established a covenant with Abram, promising that he would become the father of many nations. He changed Abram’s name to Abraham and Sarai’s name to Sarah, declaring that Sarah would become the mother of nations and that kings would come from her.

This covenant emphasized God’s sovereignty and faithfulness. Despite their advanced age, Abraham and Sarah trusted God’s promise. When God speaks, He ensures His Word comes to pass, regardless of human limitations.

His Promise Is for an Appointed Time

Habakkuk 2:2-3; Genesis 18:1, 10–15

God’s promises often come with a waiting period, but they are always fulfilled at the appointed time. In Habakkuk 2:3, the Lord said, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end, it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

In Genesis 18, God personally visited Abraham and Sarah to announce the fulfillment of His promise. Even though Sarah laughed due to her unbelief, God’s response was clear: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” At the appointed time, Sarah gave birth to Isaac, just as God had said.

This teaches us that God's timing is perfect. While we wait, we must trust Him and remain steadfast in faith.

His Visitation Brings Fulfillment

Genesis 21:1–5

When God visits, His promises are fulfilled. Genesis 21 recounts how the Lord visited Sarah, and she conceived and bore a son, Isaac, at the set time. Abraham, who was 100 years old, witnessed God’s faithfulness in fulfilling His Word.

This miraculous event demonstrates that nothing is impossible with God. His Word does not fail, and His promises are always fulfilled.

Nothing Is Impossible with God

Luke 1:34–37; Matthew 19:25–26; Mark 9:21–23

Throughout Scripture, we see that God’s power makes the impossible possible. In Luke 1:37, the angel told Mary, “For with God, nothing shall be impossible.” Similarly, in Matthew 19:26, Jesus said, “With men, this is impossible; but with God, all things are possible.”

Also, in Mark 9:23, Jesus declared, “All things are possible to him that believeth.” These verses encourage us to walk in faith, believing that God’s power can overcome any obstacle.

The Integrity of His Word and Its Connection to Faith

Mark 11:23-24

Faith is essential in accessing the promises of God. Mark 11:23-24 outlines the process of faith, which involves:

  1. Desire: Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).
  2. Speaking: Open your mouth and express your desire (Isaiah 41:21).
  3. Believing: Do not doubt in your heart but believe (Mark 9:23).
  4. Perseverance: Have faith even when it seems foolish (Hebrews 11:1).
  5. Manifestation: At the appointed time, the promise will come to pass (Habakkuk 2:3).

When we align our faith with the integrity of God’s Word, we position ourselves to receive His promises.

Our Testimony of God’s Faithfulness

A few months into our marriage, medical tests revealed that I was unproductive. Despite years of treatment, there was no improvement. Artificial insemination was suggested, but we chose to stand on God’s Word, trusting that He could do the impossible.

We sought prayer from Pastor E.A. Adeboye, who declared, “This time next year, you will carry your baby.” Just as Sarah experienced God’s visitation, He visited us. My wife conceived, and we named our daughter Seye, which means “Praise.”

As we continued to remain in His presence and give thanks, God blessed us again with another child, Opeyemi. This testimony is a reminder that the integrity of His Word never fails. When we trust Him, He does exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20–21).

Conclusion on God’s Faithfulness

God’s promises are steadfast, and His Word is eternal. He invites us to trust Him, remain in His presence, and rely on the integrity of His Word. No matter how impossible the situation may seem, we can rest assured that He is faithful to His promises.
