EVANGELISM – Making Eternal investments (II)

TOPIC: Making Eternal investments II

TEXT: Lk.15:10, Rev.3:14-18

INTRODUCTION

“The souls of men are eternal and it took an eternal God to send His eternal son for the redemption of eternal man” Richard Udoh .

Life is all about transaltions. Everybody trades in life and eventually your purchase will be weighed. Not every bargain is wise and not everything you spend your life doing is worthwhile. (Matt.6:20) Jesus said lay up treasures for yourself in heaven where moth ans rust will not destroy it. So there is a call to accomtability about what we spend our life on.

The Laodicean Church Example
Rev.3:14-18
§ This church was earthly rich (They had a firm grip on the prosperity message and had need of nothing)
§ They were bankrupt heavenly
§ In the eyes of eternity they were inconsequetial and an embarrasment.

v Several things we so slip past heaven entirely unnoticed because they have no eternal relevance.
So how do I get heaven’s recognition?
The bible in L.15:10 say “Likewise I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angel of God over one sinner that repenteth.”

Everyday we live is an opportunity to make investment in eternity, that means transfering wealth from this side of time to eternity and that is what will count at the end of the day.

HOW DO I GO ABOUT IT?
Using a few verses from the book of Romans to reach out is evangelism.
1. Start with Rom.3:10 “As it is written there is none righteous, no not one” Let the person you are witnessing to read it. You can now explain that men can be relatively good or bad in the standards of man but in the sight of God who sees the heart, we all are sinners alike no one is righteous. You can now ask according to that scripture is he righterous?

2. Rom.3:23 “For all have sinned and come shout of the glory of God,” The bible did not segregate but says all and that include all.

3. Rom.5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin: and so death passed upon all men for that all have sinned.” Here you make him realise that sin came upon man though Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and the judgement had been passed which is death (eternal seperation from God in the lake of fire).

4. Rom.6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” The normal result of our sin is death which is srict justice but you can let know thatthe gift of God is eternal life. If you want to go to heaven you must fet salvation as a free gift. We do not deserve it. It is a gift from God – So all who go to hell get what the deserve.

5. Rom.5:8 “But God commendeth his love towards us in that, while we were yet sinners, christ die for us” somebody had to die for the sin either i or somebody better. Jesus who knew no sin died in my place. He paid for me the debt I owned. It wa his love that caused him to do it.

6. Rom.10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy month the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Jesus had paid the debt all you need to do is to claim what he offers you.

7. Rom.10:10-13 faith is in the heart and you confession is an outward expression of what happened when the heart decides to trust Jesus.

v It is here also let him know that Jesus is not a disappointment vs 13 whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
