Thanksgiving

MEANING

1] The act of giving thanks, especially to God

2] A prayer expressing gratitude.

3] A public acknowledgement or celebration of divine goodness.

4] A day set apart for religious services especially to acknowledge the
goodness of God, either in any remarkable deliverance from
calamities or danger or in ordinary dispensation of His bounties.

BENEFITS OF THANKSGIVING

1] Thankful people are Joyful.
“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God; and the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

2] Thankfulness strengthens one’s faith.
A thankful person shall keep his hearts and minds through Christ Jesus i.e it would be preserved from the intrusion of anxious fears and alarms. Prayer without thanksgiving is prayer without faith.

3] Thankful people will bless others.
Thankfulness encourages and motivates people. It is contagious. It is a
fact that what we do sets an example for others.

4] Thankfulness brightens dark corners. How do you feel when someone shows you thankfulness? It brightens your day and uplifts your spirits.

5] Thankful people honour the Lord and God will in turn honour them.
Psalm 50 :23 “Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me and to him that ordereth his conversation alright will I show the salvation of God”.

6] Thanksgiving magnifies God, because it gives him credit for all that He has done and will do.

Psalm 69 :30. I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

CONCLUTION

In conclusion, praise, thanksgiving and worship:
Minister to the lord
Exalt the Lord
Drive Satan far away
Help us to forgive others
Take pride and bitterness from our spirits.
