Role Modeling

INTRODUCTION

Role Modeling is an understanding between two or more people. It is a way for people to learn from each other. It has nothing to do with age, it’s a bond. No matter the age, race or gender, it is a way for people to communicate.

Who is a Role Model?

A person who serves as an example of the values, attitudes, and behaviors associated with a role. For example, a father is a role model for his sons. Role models can also be persons who distinguish themselves in such a way that others admire and want to emulate them.
True role models are those who possess the qualities that we would like to have and those who have affected us in a way that makes us want to be better people.
A role model is someone who not only treats me as an equal but is honest, trusting, and most of all open-minded especially in today’s society.
Another thing that is important is that a role model is not just someone who you look up to or is successful, but someone who has had to go through similar struggles.

HOW TO CHOOSE A ROLE MODEL.

Choose someone who has a lot of confidence in themselves and their abilities. A good role model would be someone who knows who they are.
Choose someone who thinks it is alright to be unique; even if that means accepting some ridicule.
Choose someone who interacts well with others’, and someone who is kind and can communicate well with people.
Choose someone who is living life the way you would like to. If you want to be a famous author, your role model could be someone who has been successful at writing.
Choose someone who doesn’t always take credit for what they do.
Choose a role model who may have done something you find admirable.

REMEMBER

Keep in mind that having a role model does not mean you become exactly like that person; remember to retain your individuality. You shouldn’t change yourself to be like your role model; be like them, but put your own individuality into the things they do.
Be your own role model. This means to do the things that you would admire someone else for doing.
Your role model doesn’t have to be a real person, or someone who is alive.
