Why Counseling?

To help an individual accept and deal with issues he or she has not been unable to resolve on his/her own.
It involves giving advice as well as trying to identify with the process the individual is passing through.
Counseling helps people to change as they learn to think things through for themselves and make their own decisions, free of the effects of past conditioning.

Counselling skills

A counselor must listen so that the counselee can develop his or her thinking.
A counselor does not judge so as to enable the counselee feel safe and respected.
It is important for the counselor to pay rapt attention, this depicts that you care.
You must respect the counselee’s feeling so that he/she will not feel judged.
As a counselor put yourself in the shoes of the counselee.
